These are notes written by Andrew Rechnitzer for a short workshop held at UBC on March 23-25, 2018. They are also based on notes written by Rechnitzer, Nick Beaton and Thomas Prellberg for a short course given at the Applied Combinatorics Summer School held at the University of Saskatchewan in May 2015.
