Let a = the length of one edge. Surface area of one square = a²
Therefore, Surface area of the cube = 6 squares = 6a² 
Volume 
The volume of a cube is a³. In fact, the volume of any Hexahedron like the one in the picture,
with equal parallelogram on opposite sides, can be calculated with the formula:
width × height of the bottome parallelogram × height of cube
