A deep despair is like cancer; it eats away from the inside. By the time the symptoms are recognized, it is probably too late. Despair attacks a person's essence -- his or her perspective. The thorn covered glasses that grow over the person's eyes put pain into most of what they see. For the victims of despair, we mourn.
Unlike cancer, despair is contagious. Rather than let it breed in our minds it is crucial to celebrate the victim's spark of life and its imprint on us. We must bask in the passions of life and use them to bundle up when darkness descends.
