Here's where Wikipedia appears if I put various mathematicians into Google. We'll see later why I made these particular choices):

  • Euclid #1
  • Archimedes #1
  • Carl Friedrich Gauss #2
  • Eudoxus #1
  • Jacobi #3
  • Dirichlet #2
  • Kummer #3
  • Gotthold Eisenstein #6 (German page from English Google)
    Ferdinand Eisenstein #1
  • Kronecker #4
  • Riemann #1
  • Dedekind #1
  • Kurt Hensel #3
  • David Hilbert #1
  • Minkowski #1
This is a phenomenon we all should learn how to deal with. At the very least, Wikipedia will affect how our students learn and therefore also how we teach; and it will likely also affect how mathematics and mathematicians are perceived by - dare I say it? - funding agencies.
