Math 253 Section 102: Answers to Questions
- Where can I get your lecture notes?
- I don't post my lecture notes as such. However, I post a scan of
what I wrote for the document camera for every lecture, as well as the
worksheet (if any) and its solution. This information is found in
the lecture-by-lecture table at the
bottom of the section webpage.
- Where can I get my graded homework
- Graded homework is avaialble from the filing cabinet located next to
classroom MATH 225 in the Mathematics Building (this is not far from
my office).
- When are assignments due?
- WeBWork assignments are due Fridays at 17:00.
- Written assignments are due Mondays at the beginning of class.
- Where can I find more problems?
- Start with problems at the end of textbook chapters. Ideally, you'll
do all of them. If you want a selection, see here.
- Google is your friend: look for past problem sets.
- Other textbooks from the library.
- The department publishes some Past Exams (also check out the ones for MATH 200, a sister course).
- Which textbook should I buy?
- You need chapters 12,14,15 of the 7th edition of Stewart's calculus book.
These are available either in a thinner book titled "Multivariable
calculus" (the official course textbook) or in a thick book titled
"Calculus: early transcendentals" which also includes chapters 1-11 used
in our Math 100-101 sequence.
- Which calculator should I use? Should I buy a graphing calculator?
- No calculators whatsoever are allowed in exams. Occasional homework
problems may require numerical calculations, but nothing more
sophisticated then exponentials, logarithms, trig functions and their
inverses.
- All graphing in this course will be done by hand.
