- Office hours (Fall 2023): after class (W 10:00-10:30 at the ESB atrium, W 14:00-14:30 at WW IRC Basetment room B75), M 11:30-12:30 in my office, and by appointment.

This is the page for information specific to section 206. See the course-wide website for details on assessment, homework, textbooks, quizzes, course policies, learning objectives, and the like.

- Classes: MWF 14:00-15:00, MATH 100
- See the Lecture-by-lecture schedule for pre-class reading information, worksheets and more.
- There are two kinds of homework:
- On-line homework
- Off-line homework is not for submission, but doing as many problems as possible is essential for success in the course (we also have old suggested problems from Stewart's book, but note that the order of topics has changed since that year.

- Quizzes are held on alternating Fridays (marked in red on the table below).
- Each quiz covers two units of material; see our lecture-by-lecture table below and the coordination table to see what the relevant material is.
- To prepare for quizzes do the online and offline homework. To prepare for the required speed go back and solve past quizzes while timing yourself.
- Marked quizzes will be returned electronically.
- Regrade requests are due by the next quiz day; they must be based either on a grade addition error or on the relevant marking scheme. In either case you must attach a filled form to a printout of your marked quiz.

- The Math Learning Centre is open Monday through Friday.
- Here are some Common Errors in Undergraduate Mathematics. Avoiding these common pitfalls will improve your grade measurably.
- UBC's Math Exam Resources has some solutions to problems from past final exams with the problem sorted by topic.

- The final exam will be held on Friday, April 21st between 12:00-14:30. Our section is writing it in the SRC.
- See the main course page on instructions, including regarding the location and the assigned seat scheme we are using.
- You should practice doing past final exams (exams from Math 103,105 are also useful).
- The topics covered in our course are not identical year-to-year, so past exams include problems on topics we haven't covered, and may not include problems on topics we have covered.
- After some revising, it is essential to do at least one such exam
(especially the practice final)
*under exam conditions*: reserve 2.5 hours and work on the exam in a quiet room without using prohibited resources (notes/textbooks/calculators/friends/internet). - Solutions to this year's and last year's practice finals are available. We don't post solution to past eams in general, but some solutions (and hints!) are available on the Math Exam Resources Wiki. Also, the Undergraduate Math Club sells solutions to some past exams.

Ahead of each class you **must** read the relevant section from a
textbook of your choice. The "reference" section numbers are from the
course notes; for
section numbers in other textbooks see the coordination table.
