Note*: even if typing up in TeX is not mandatory, you should all compile the template at least once. First, it will probably convince you that it is not too hard to use TeX. And most importantly, the pdf file you will obtain will show how to structure your answer (even if you decide to write it by hand eventually). The structure and presentation of your answer really matters in this class.

Note**: I get questions about "how to do well in this class". One thing you can and should do is read the solutions of the problemsets carefully even if you got full credit on your own paper. Be critical when comparing your answer to the one that is given in the solution. Sometimes there are different ways to think of one question: reading another approach than yours can enlighten you about a certain concept, especially because you have worked on the question on your own beforehand. The solution may also sometimes contain comments, alternative answers, extra little details that may be helpful.

We recall that, to get full credit, your homework papers need to be clean, clear and properly stapled. For those of you who want to type up their solution in TeX, we provide templates. Using them is not mandatory, it is only encouraged. Once you figure out how it works, it will help you write (and probably think!) more clearly. But if this is too much technology for your taste, you are welcome to write your papers the old-fashioned way as long as they are easily readable. Get started on TeX on Krishanu's webpage.
