Title Cell metabolism and its relationship to hypoxia and acidity in solid tumors. Computational results
Abstract The tumor microenvironment plays an essential role in the growth and development of tumors. Among many microenvironmental parameters, acidity and hypoxia are two major factors which affect cell metabolism as well as the metastasis of cancer cells to other organs. In this talk, we first give a brief review of some experimental results on acidity and hypoxia and their relationship to cell metabolism. We then use a mathematical model to calculate PH and oxygen concentration inside a solid tumor and discuss implications and relevance to experimental work.
