Homework Logitics
- 5-6 assignments will be posted over the semester.
You will typically have 1-2 weeks to work on each.
- You will need to upload your submission to canvas.
- Assignments submitted up to 24 hours late receive 50% credit.
No later assignments will be accepted for credit.
- Assignments count for up to 50% of the grade;
There may be scaling applied.
- Assignments must be typeset, and printed or uploaded to Canvas as pdf files.
You are encouraged to typeset your assignments in LaTeX.
Many online resources on LaTeX are easily found.
Two beginner-friendly systems for using TeX are overleaf and LyX.
There are many others.
- TeX source files for assignments will be provided.
- Assignments will be graded primarily for mathematical completeness, but also for clear and precise writing.
Mathematical Writing for undergraduates is a an introductory and comprehensive reference for good mathematical writing.
Collaboration:
Group work on assignments is allowed for coming up with solutions to problems.
However, you should write and submit only your own writing.
If you do collaborate with others, indicate in the submitted solutions who you worked with (for the whole assignment, or for individual questions as appropriate).
